Yoga Exercise Specialist Certification
A two-part course aimed at teaching fitness and health professionals to teach yoga in the fitness and health setting. This course is recognized by the BCRPA as a Fitness Yoga Module** course.
Prerequisite:
* A minimum of 25 hours previous anatomy study or Fitness Certification (if you do not have 25 hours of anatomy training, we recommend 25 hours of independent study of the book Anatomy of Movement by Blandine Calais-Germaine or another anatomy book of your choice)
** For BCRPA Yoga Fitness Module accreditation: you must also successfully complete an approved BCRPA Fitness Theory course and exam, as well as participate in 20 yoga classes or equivalent and successfully complete ICE (instructor competency evaluation) once you have finished both the YES I and YES II courses and have taught a minimum of 8 hours of yoga.
- learn over 50 postures, warm ups and variations
- integrate yoga into your private training and group exercise programs
- develop the ability to design a safe yoga group exercise class
- study meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques
- gain a basic understanding of yoga history and philosophy
- learn about the business of teaching yoga

Prerequisite: Part I Yoga Exercise Certificate Course, 30 hours of personal practice, 25 hours of practical teaching (these hours are logged independently).
*We will be using 2 blocks, 2 straps, a bolster and blanket for the "Using Props" workshop and it is recommended that you bring these props with you. You can still attend without them but you will only be able to watch and perhaps borrow props from others.
- attend an "Intro to Vinyasa" and a "Using Props" workshop
- complete the written and practical exams
- gain a credible certification

EWYT-RYT200 2009-2010 Program: Vancouver
(registered with the Yoga Alliance at the RYT200 hour level)
Program begins October 17-18.
Note: In Vancouver, the program varies slightly from the Toronto curriculum.
